Campaign 2026:
Good Government
for Common Folk
Does anybody really know what time it is?
Does anybody really care?
- Chicago Transit Authority
You know how to interpret the appearance of the sky,
but you cannot interpret the signs of the times. - Jesus

My name is Bob Coster. I'm running a campaign to be a voice of good government for common folk, and I need your help.
As a matter of fact, I can't do it without you. My appeal is to God-fearing men to join me in this campaign; for there is a fellowship that exists between like-minded men. I need your fellowship, your various talents and gifts, your organizational abilities, and your heart; working together as one.
My role is to be faithful to the message God has given me to share, and God would provide the men.
It only takes a few people to make a huge difference, and I will share below how this can happen.
This past Fall, I saw the opportunity to share a message of healing and hope on a national platform. To be a player in a high stakes political contest; competing with powerful political power brokers for a political prize, I realized that this was an efficient way to maximize my audience and amplify my message. I submitted an application of intent to run for public office as an independent candidate for US Senate in Texas.
Now that the primaries and run-offs in Texas are over, and the political party candidates have been nominated, it's time for the independent candidates to qualify for the November ballot.
What happens in Texas has national implications. Texas has 30 million residents and 18.7 million registered voters, of which, 1 in 9 registered voters in the United States lives in Texas.
Independent candidates are given 30 days from the end of the primary run-off elections to collect valid petitions from registered Texas voters along with an application, in order to qualify for our names to be on the November ballot.
Anyone who DID NOT vote in the March 3rd primaries or the May 26th primary run-offs is eligible to sign my petition.
Of the 18.7 million registered voters, 14.5 million are eligible. That's 75% of the Texas voting population.
Although only this group of voters is eligible to sign a petition, anyone can collect petitions. This is key for me because, more than likely, the men I am appealing to may have voted in the primaries. You wouldn't have known there were other options, but in reading about my message of good government, it's origins, and it's future, I hope that it will powerfully resonate with you, because God is speaking to you.
I'm absolutely dependent on the power of God's Holy Spirit to do the work in the heart of the reader, for this is His message, and I'm just the mouthpiece.
I do have a message for our God-fearing women:
There is a strategic reason that my initial appeal is to men. As you know, men; specifically God-fearing men, have an outsized influence in the world we touch.
Starting with our relationship within our families, we carry our reputation and authority with us, among our friends and associates, our neighbors, and into the broader community. Our reputation touches everyone we meet. God-fearing men are designed to shine as examples of godliness in our leadership roles, and to other men to show what real leadership looks like.
Men, by nature, are proud. We can be boastful and arrogant too. But God-fearing men model gentleness, humility, and kindness. Our women are the first recipients of these traits. You can tell an awful lot about a man by the way he treats the women in his life. God-fearing men are marked by deep respect for our women folk. You are loved, encouraged, and protected by us because that is the role God gave to us, and what we do in our relationship with you indicates the quality of our relationship with God. Wives, specifically, will submit to a man who treats her this way, because she will follow a man who will lay down his life for her.
Men, by nature, are not God-fearing. God-fearing men become God-fearing because we have experienced the mercy and grace of God in our lives, especially during the difficult times. In the humility that comes from being broken, we are taught by God.
"Good and upright is the LORD; Therefore,He instructs sinners in His ways.
He guides the humbly in what is right, and teaches them His way."
"Who, then, is the man that fears the LORD?
He will instruct him in the way chosen for him."
-Psalms 25:8,9 and 12
I will not minimize the importance of women toward the success of this campaign, but it is given to men to shoulder the mantle of responsibility. If men won't do it, then the campaign will not succeed. God has called us to be the salt of the earth and the light of the world. The message of this campaign is an opportunity to do this, and you are all invited to participate.
The strategy to collect the 82,000 valid petitions necessary to be placed on the November ballot:
I am not limiting what the Holy Spirit will do in the heart of the reader, but as an arbitrary example, I have selected 2000 men as a minimum number of men to help in the collecting process. The request is that those who feel called to participate with me are to share this campaigns with their friends. I have arbitrarily picked 4 friends for each man. Now, that would make the total number of men participating equal 10,000. If each of the 10,000 men collect 10 valid petitions, that would total 100,000 valid petitions signed. There just happens to be 10 places for signatures on a valid form, which means you only have to fill up a single page.
My target date is symbolic: I have selected Father's Day as the date to collect all the petitions necessary to qualify for my name on the ballot. It's entirely feasible to collect all the petitions in a single day; a day set aside to honor the leadership and integrity of the men in our lives.
Important!
Each page must be notarized, so pay careful attention to the language on the form and what is required to validate it. There are further instructions, along with the PDF version of the petition below.
All valid petitions, along with an application, must be submitted to the Secretary of State's office by June 25th before 5:00 PM. Father's Day is June 21st. Mailed petitions to me inside Texas take between 1-3 business days. So, please make sure petitions are notarized and mailed by Monday, June 22nd to:

in order to reach me in time.
Your participation would be making a statement, and sending a message across Texas, that the principles of good government for common folk is important to you, as laid out by example in the Scriptures. To my knowledge, no Independent candidate has ever had their name placed on the ballot for US Senate in Texas.
Candidates for the Texas Senate campaign have poured in $130 million to date, with much more to follow in the coming months. The prize is political power and political control for their respective parties, and prestige for themselves. I'll have invested less than $250 to date through postcards and this website, because financial influence should have no bearing on who represents good government.
Good government is built on healthy relationships and humble character.
Jesus said:
"You know that the rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them, and their high officials exercise authority over them. Not so with you. Instead, whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant, and whoever wants to be first must be your slave- just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life as a ransom for many."
-Matthew 20:25-28
The Principles of Good Government
My message is rather simple and straight forward: God is actively at work in His creation, and that government is of divine origin. A nation of God-fearing people, who model the kingdom of heaven on earth, will experience God's blessing, and will govern through wisdom, humility, righteousness, justice, and equity.
I will also say that God -fearing folk practice the fundamental principles of good government in their home.
Like Abraham, God has chosen fathers to direct their children and their household after them to keep the way of the LORD, by doing whats right and just. We lead our families through example.
I will propose then that good government is good because God is good, and that righteousness and justice are His standards of good government. Righteousness is the substance of the law, and justice is the action and expression of righteousness. In the Bible these two are always found together. Righteousness is not defined by any other standard than by God's holiness, lest we should attempt to redefine it and corrupt the fundamental principle.
"But the LORD of Hosts will be exalted by His justice, and the holy God will show Himself holy by His righteousness."
- Isaiah 5:16
Jesus is coming back, and when he returns He will come crowned with majesty and glory to rule His millennial kingdom. According to the scriptures, He will govern by the principles of righteousness and justice.
Listed below are a few scriptures supporting this:
" For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will on his shoulder. And his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Of the increase of his government and peace there will be no end. He will reign on David's throne and over his kingdom, establishing and upholding it with justice and righteousness from that time on and forever. The zeal of the LORD of Hosts will accomplish this."
-Isaiah 9:6-7
"The Spirit of the LORD will rest on Him- The Spirit of wisdom and understanding, the Spirit of counsel and of power, the Spirit of Knowledge and the fear of the LORD- and He will delight in the fear of the LORD. He will not judge by what he sees with his eyes, or decide by what He hears with his ears; but with righteousness He will judge the needy, with justice he will give decisions for the poor of the earth."
-Isaiah: 11:2-4
There, of course, is a great deal of content in these verses that are beyond the scope of this discussion, but it will be sufficient for you to note that as you read the Bible, you will see righteousness and justice paired. This is the foundation for good government.
Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD, The people He chose for His inheritance. From heaven the LORD looks down and sees all mankind; from His dwelling place He watches all who live on earth- He who forms the hearts of all, who considers everything they do. - Psalm 33:12-15
Energizing the common folk
The first words Jesus spoke when He began His earthly ministry were these: "Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand." Jesus came as a fulfillment of the promises made about Him from the scriptures. Though he was of royal blood He was of humble birth, and grew up among common folk. This was by design as part of what was prophesied about Him; for the man from heaven came to earth to teach an eternal perspective to mortal men, so that we might truly live. As a people, we are walking away from the light. He is beckoning us to turn around and walk toward the light.
Along the shores of a fishing village these words were first shared with common folk. And this same message of repentance is relevant to us common folk today.
Jesus birth was heralded by a group of foreigners seeking Him, when they declared: "Where is he who is born king of the Jews? We have seen His star in the east, and have come to worship Him." This announcement terrified the people and was threatening to the covetous heart of the one who held the political power. He abused his authority with impunity when he ordered the slaughter of innocent children to ensure that he got the right one. It is not uncommon that those who lust after power are arrogant, boastful, and proud. Because they lack humility and gentleness, they are deprived of wisdom and understanding. The fact that they abuse their authority indicates this. We see this today too. This story highlights the conflict between the kingdoms of this world, and the kingdom of Christ.
Jesus said: "Take my yoke upon you and learn of me. For I am gentle and humble of heart, and you will find rest in your souls, for my yoke is easy and my burden is light." The King of kings and Lord of lords is gentle and humble, and when we walk with Him, He teaches us that the mark and quality of true leadership is humility. To those who have spent time with Jesus and cultivated humility He gives wisdom and understanding. And that is what is needed today in government.

Concluding Remarks
In the limited scope of this initial campaign to collect enough signatures to qualify for the ballot, I have not addressed the complex issues facing America today, but rather, I have exposed the fundamental differences in the principles between pursuing political power and pursuing good government. It is in now in your hands as to whether I can advance this discussion to the national stage, but if this happens, I intend to examine the issues of the day through the lens of these principles, and to make these principles relevant to ordinary folk. Does anybody really know what time it is? Does anybody really care? The future of America is being weighed in the balance. The time is short, but that time is now.
